About Wembley Stadium
The new Wembley Stadium was opened during 2007 on the ground of the original Wembley Stadium, which was one of the most famous stadiums in the world until the point it was demolished in 2003.
Wembley Stadium is a category four UEFA stadium with a capacity of over 100,000 people, making it the second largest stadium in Europe and the England national stadium. The stadium was designed by Foster and Partners and Populous and includes a retractable roof and a 134m high arch across the stadium, spanning more than 317m. This arch is the longest single spanning roof structure in the world, in fact it's so large it requires beacons as warnings for low flying planes. The stadium cost almost £800million to build!
